Liverpool couldn’t protect their unbeaten record at the Etihad Stadium last night as they were narrowly defeated by Manchester City.
Goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane condemned the Reds to their first Premier League defeat of the season, though, they managed to pull one back via Firmino’s header but it was just a mere consolation.
Liverpool fans are currently unhappy with Dejan Lovren’s performance throughout the encounter and they wouldn’t mind seeing him leave Anfield this month.
According to the Reds supporters who vent their anger via their respective Twitter accounts, the Dutchman shouldn’t be seen in Klopp’s starting lineup in subsequent matches because of the role he played in Sergio Aguero’s goal.
They claimed he gave the Argentine striker much space and time to hit the ball which went straight into Alisson’s net.
The center-back wasn’t in Klopp’s first-team in the early part of this season, but an injury to Joe Gomez rendered him the chance to return back to the starting lineup.
As much as Liverpool fans have every right to react badly to the player’s display against Pep Guardiola’s men yesterday, they could be asking for too much.
The Reds will be without the young English defender for more weeks and Joel Matip hasn’t shown any sign of being a capable replacement, hence, the experienced defender is the best option for now.
Despite Lovren shortcomings during the encounter, Jurgen Klopp would want to give him another chance to redeem himself at the back of the pitch when they meet Brighton in their next Premier League fixture.
