Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has no doubt that Kepa Arrizabalaga is still the number one goalkeeper at the club despite the fact that he was dropped for the London Derby win over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Kepa Arrizabalaga rocked the footballing world during the Carabao Cup final at the weekend after he refused to be substituted.
The Spanish international shot stopper was fined a week’s salary by the club before Maurizio Sarri dropped him for the Spurs game.
In his post-match thoughts after the game, Italian tactician Sarri revealed that the Spaniard is still the number one goalkeeper at the club.
Kepa Arrizabalaga became the most expensive player in the history of Chelsea after the Blues activated the £71m release clause in his then contract at Spanish La Liga club Athletic Bilbao.
Chelsea signed Kepa at the start of the season.
Without Kepa, Chelsea boosted their top-four hopes by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 with two second-half goals from Pedro Rodriguez and Kieran Trippier (own goal).
The defeat has all but ruled Tottenham out of the title race.
Spurs didn’t manage a shot on target against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
It was the first time that has happened under Mauricio Pochettino.
