Premier League giant Arsenal are set to lose out on goalkeeper target as he is prepared to sign a new contract that will include a release clause, according to reports.
Arsenal and Spanish La Liga giant Real Madrid target Kepa Arrizabalaga is ready to pen a new contract with Spanish La Liga side Athletic Bilbao.
According to a report by top publication Marca, the 23-year-old Bilbao safe hand has all but agreed a new contract with a salary increase amounting to around £2.7million and his buyout clause believed to be about £8.8million will increase to a whopping £66.5million.
The goalie is out of contract at the end of the current League season, and he recently asked for a new contract with a bumper pay rise. Kepa Arrizabalaga is able to negotiate the transfer with suitors later in January, but he looks ready to agree on a new contract at the Basque side, and the new buyout clause will keep other interested suitors including North London giant Arsenal at bay.
The Spain international, who has attracted comparisons to Manchester United first-choice goalkeeper and Spain international David De Gea, has been interesting London club Arsenal, Spanish La Liga Champions Real Madrid and Serie A side Napoli.
