An unpleasant news for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United fans…..
It was reported that Manchester United have been dealt the blow of potentially losing one of their star players in the person of Juan Mata for the rest of this season after a groin surgery.
Mata has been one of Jose Mourinho’s most consistent performers throughout this season. But now, he could bring a great loss for the club between now and May.
The Manchester Evening News reported that the Spaniard trained as normal this week before complaining of pain in his groin, even though many fans do not believe yet and still hope it’s a mere April fool prank.
He reportedly underwent surgery to deal with the problem, but it appears he would be out of the pitch for the remaining two months of this campaign.
The former Chelsea player would miss as many as nine fixtures in April as his side remain in the race for a top four spot in the Premier League table this season.
Mata has been a regular for Mourinho’s side in their busy campaign in four competitions. And now that the red devils have confirmed the news in the affirmative (though have not yet provide a detailed update on his fitness status), it means he would leave the manager short of options in the creative midfield department.
In his first season at the Old Trafford club, the Portuguese manager sold in the January transfer window Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay, and Bastian Schweinsteiger has now also left too.
