If not for a late strike from Anthony Martial at Old Trafford, Manchester United would have shared points with Tottenham Hotspur the same way they did with Liverpool the previous weekend.
The club’s boss Jose Mourinho is not happy with criticism of his style of play after he was accused of parking the bus against Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield in October.
And even though Man United played better against Spurs last weekend, anything but a win would have increased the pressure on Mourinho. And obviously pleased with the win, the Portuguese manager ‘shushed’ his critics after full-time.
The win against an in-form Tottenham Hotspur seems to have strengthened Mourinho’s resolve in regards to how his team should line up against other big boys in the premier league.
However, the major issue the former Chelsea boss faces at this moment in time is Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola keeps tearing opponents apart every week with the same trust in his boys attacking abilities, and it’s getting the attention of the fans at Old Trafford too – they don’t want to lose ground on Man City! Period!
Although Jose said he is only concentrating on his own team at this point of the season, he is still likely to keep an eye on City’s game against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium two hours before his own game at Stamford Bridge.
Pep Guardiola’s side holds a five-point advantage ahead of the games this weekend, and Man United will likely need a win to maintain pressure on their Manchester rivals.
