Chelsea legend and former Aston Villa player, John Terry has retired from active football at the age of 37 years.
John Terry during his days at Stamford Bridge made 700 appearances for the Blues, he left Chelsea for Aston Villa but didn’t get a contract extension at the club and had been a free agent since then.
However, the top star in a statement via his Instagram last night wrote he has finally hung his boots after 23 years as a player.
Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to applaud a player that once played at Stamford Bridge.
The top defender also made 78 appearances for his home country, England all through his professional career.
John Terry hanging his boots may be a proof that he is about to venture into coaching.
The legend has been linked with an assistant coaching job at Aston Villa alongside Former Arsenal legend and France international, Thierry Henry.
This comes after Aston Villa coach, Steve Bruce was sacked, the two legends are expected to take up the job offer and help Aston Villa win the Championship league so that they can be promoted to the English premier league.
Thierry Henry already has some coaching experience having been an assistant coach to Roberto Martinez for Belgium in the 2018 world cup in Russia.
