In recent weeks, James Rodriguez has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid as it is reported that different top teams have their eyes on him. Two English Premier League clubs that topped the chart for the most likely clubs to get him are Manchester United and Chelsea FC.
Nevertheless, Portuguese influential agent Jorge Mendes has revealed that the Colombian won’t leave Real Madrid in January.
This season, Rodriguez has been struggling to feature regularly in Zinedine Zidane’s team. But it just seemed the French coach don’t have a place for him yet in the first XI. This prompted Rodriguez to vent his frustration and announced that he could consider leaving the club come January.
It was speculated that Manchester United are interested in getting his signature, alongside EPL leaders Chelsea. Another source claimed that Serie A side Juventus are also interested in the star striker.
Nevertheless, as things stand now, it seem Rodriguez won’t be moving in the January transfer as his agent Mendes revealed that his client won’t be leaving the Spanish capital next month.
He told Spanish sports daily AS (via Goal): “James will not leave in January.”
Rated £60m, he joined Real Madrid in 2014 from AS Monaco for a superb €75M transfer fee. He has won with the club different honours, including the Champions League.
However, this season so far, he has made only three La Liga starts, and has only appeared 16 times for Real Madrid in all competitions this season.
