20-Year-Old Talented Player: Why I Have No Regret Joining Chelsea

Youngster: I still don’t regret swapping West Brom for Chelsea

Izzy Brown has insists he holds no regrets over joining the blues as a teenager.

The 20-year-old talented player has been hailed as one of the brightest prospects in an already talented Blues academy – with others likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ola Aina and Dominic Solanke.

However, he has not been able to force his way into the first-team setup on a regular basis so far.

It is now four years since he swapped West Brom for the blues in a £1million deal that was settled through a tribunal hearing. It is believed that the deed still irks West Brom to this very day as they promised the player regular football in the club. However he insists that the opportunity to join the club he supported could not be dismissed.

“I don’t regret the decision to leave. Maybe I would have had more Premier League games but everyone has a different pathway,”

“The manager at the time [Steve Clarke] was sacked early the following season and I could easily have been bombed back into the under-18s.

“People say leaving West Brom was all down to my family but it was all down to me.

“Being 16 and supporting Chelsea as a kid, when a team like that tells you they want you it’s hard for any teenager to say no. It’s all about timing, I’m still 20 and not too worried.” he told telegraph.

Izzy Brown is one of 37 players that are currently out on loan away from the Stamford Bridge this season. He’ve spent some time with Rotherham United during the first-half of the campaign but has now join Huddersfield Town earlier in the month. He already has three goals to his name in six Championship appearances.

Brown found the net once in the FA Cup and is in line to test himself against Manchester City Premier as the Terriers welcome Guardiola’s men to Kirklees Stadium with a place in the quarter-final at stake.
