Chelsea manager, Antonio has given some good news to fans concerning injury worries at the club. Conte has revealed that defender Kurt Zouma is very close to returning to the first team.
The center back was in action for the under 23’s at the start of the week after being out for eight months due to a knee injury. He is set to play once again, this time for the reserve team of the blues against Everton on Monday and if everything goes well he could be considered for selection by the manager.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference Conte said “Zouma played a game with the Under-23s and the physical answer was good. Now we prefer him to play another game on Monday and if it’s all okay he will come back to us.
I am very happy because I can have another central defender and a good central defender, a young one with great potential.”
Conte also disclosed that defender Branislav Ivanovic is fit and is now ready for action on the pitch. Ivanovic had been missing for the last two weeks due to injury and is now set to return to the team.
Conte also gave details about the injury of Cesc Fabregas, revealing that the midfielder will not be part of the team heading to Southampton. The Spanish international has been out of action due to a thigh injury and has missed the last three matches.
Conte stated
“Fabregas stayed with us in a part of the training session on Friday, when we tried offensive movements, and I think he will be ready next week.”
