“I Was Praying Every Day” – Mother Reveals She Was Eager For Son To Leave Chelsea

Juan Cuadrado’s mum has revealed that she was “praying every day” that Juventus would swoop in for her son. Cuadrado’s mother has talked about how she “prayed” for her son’s Chelsea nightmare to be over ahead of his latest loan move to Juventus last year’s summer.

The player joined Chelsea in February 2015 but has struggled to break into the first-team when Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho was still in charge, and has eventually found himself on loan at Juventus at the start of the following season.

The forward made only 13 appearances for Chelsea in the league and prior to Mourinho’s dismissal it didn’t appear as if there was any way back for him.

“He kept smiling at Chelsea but I could see he was not right. It was a difficult period for him, the toughest of his career.

“This summer I was praying every day that he’d go back to Juve.I knew he’d get back to being the same as always in Turin. After the game against Inter, I just hugged him and said: ‘You were great’.” Marcelo Cuadrado told Gazzetta dello Sport (via Mirror).

The current deal between Chelsea and Juve means that if all goes well the Serie A Champions have the option to sign the player on a long-term deal at the end of this season.

The deal is a three-year loan one that requires the club to buy him at the end of that period or simply when he plays a certain number of games for the Italian club.
