Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira has revealed that the club can only keep in-demand attacker Joao Felix at the club beyond this summer via a loan transfer.
Joao Felix has been attracting the interest of several clubs on the European football scene.
Champions League holders Liverpool are one of the clubs linked with a move for the 19-year-old Portuguese international.
Earlier reports claimed that Liverpool had a £61m bid rejected for the player towards the end of last year.
Benfica are holding out for the full release clause in his contract meaning that interested clubs will have to pay £105 (€120m) for the teen sensation.
The club president is hopeful that they can retain the services of their prized asset for at least one season even after his sale.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Benfica president said that the best chance they have for Joao Felix to play for them next season is for him to be loaned back to the Portuguese champions for the 2019/20 season after his sale.
Apart from Liverpool, clubs like Italian Serie A champions Juventus, German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Premier League champions Manchester City and fallen giants Manchester United are all interested in a move for the young Benfica attacker.
