According to new reports about Manchester United, the Old Trafford club will trigger contract extension clauses on four first-team players, which will stop them from holding talks with other sides when January comes.
It was made known that the Old Trafford club are set to extend the contracts of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Daley Blind at the club, as their services are still needed at Old Trafford.
All will be out of contract at the end of this term, but the red devils have the option to extend their deals by a further 12 months.
Activating the 12 months extension in their deals will tie the players at Manchester United until the summer of 2019.
If Man United are able to get this done before the end of this year, it means the players won’t have the liberty to talk with any other club in January about a potential move.
Herrera, who was crowned the Manchester United Player of the Year last season, has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid next year.
Former Chelsea star Juan Mata is also struggling this season at Old Trafford, and there are reports Real Madrid are interested in bringing him over to Spain.
By extending the players’ deals, manager Jose Mourinho will have more time to consider those he would love having around him and those he will be selling next summer.
