Glenn Hoddle thinks that Chelsea will win the English Premier League title but however expects a couple of twists and turns in the coming months.
Following Chelsea’s win over Arsenal last weekend, the Stamford Bridge club boast a nine-point lead at the top of the table.
Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsene Wenger’s team occupy the other top-four spots, while Liverpool and Manchester United are now close behind.
And former Tottenham player Hoddle has voiced out his opinions on Chelsea’s chances, claiming Chelsea’s remaining fixtures against the big teams could derail their title bid (that is if the chasing pack are still in the hunt by then)
He believes that since Chelsea would still have to go play Man United and Everton while Man City will be coming to Stamford Bridge, there may yet be a twist or a turn.
“You can never say for sure that the league is done and dusted in early February, but that’s what it felt like on Saturday,” Hoddle told the Daily Mail.
“The Premier League title feels like it’s heading back Chelsea’s way.
“But those games are in April. Chelsea could easily be uncatchable by then. They may be able to take a draw in all of those games.
“I thought it would be closer than this; that the intensity of the battle in the top six would cause Chelsea to drop points.
“Though they did at Tottenham and Liverpool, the five challengers haven’t been good enough to exploit it.
“When Chelsea went into the Spurs game last month, they were only five points clear. After losing and drawing a game since then, they are now nine points clear.”
