If the report according to The Times is anything to go by, former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg would be joining manager Unai Emery for a first-team coaching role.
Freddie Ljungberg enjoyed a very successful playing career at Arsenal before ending professional football for a coaching career.
The former Arsenal player has been with the under-23 team since joining from German Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg. He has so far impressed on-the-job by helping the Gunners team secure a second place in the Junior Premier League.
He is now being considered for a bigger role, knowing that he understands Arsenal culture and the philosophy at the club which could be helpful to the Spanish manager.
It is speculated that the head of performance Shad Forsythe is heading to AC Milan after he was pictured at the Italian club’s training ground which gives Freddie Ljungberg an opportunity with the first team coaching crew.
However, the major Challenge for Arsenal and their coaching crew will be to secure new additions to the team despite the limited transfer budget available.
They have been mandated to return the club back to the Champions League and also to challenge for titles, including the Europa League in the coming season.
