FA Charges Sissoko For Elbow On Harry Arter

Tottenham’s and France international midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been charged by the Football Association for an elbow on Bournemouth’s Harry Arter.

Sissoko caught Arter in the face with his right elbow just eight minutes after being introduced in the second half after both midfielder contested for a loose ball in Spurs’ goalless draw with Bournemouth.

Referee Craig Pawson and his assistants missed the incident at the time which led the FA to review the incident, and have now charged Sissoko for violent conduct, and  he has until 6pm on Tuesday to respond.

FA statement reads:

“Moussa Sissoko has been charged for an alleged act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

“The Tottenham Hotspur forward was involved in an incident with AFC Bournemouth’s Harry Arter in the 79th minute of the game on Saturday 22 October 2016.

“He has until 6pm on Tuesday, October 25 to reply.”

Arter told Sky Sports:

“Sissoko said to me afterwards that he did catch me but that it was by accident.

“He doesn’t seem to be that sort of player, so I’m sure it was by accident and hopefully we can move on from it.”
“He caught me straight in the face and if you get hit in the face anyone would have a reaction,” The Bournemouth midfielder said.

“After the game he did apologise. I’m not one to hold grudges. He said sorry, he didn’t mean it, so that’s the end.
“It looks like he elbowed me but he apologized and said it was an accident so that’s good to me.

“At times in the heat of the battle you react differently and now I feel happy with his apology and if he didn’t mean it hopefully he doesn’t get banned, and we can both move on from it”
