Chelsea defender Gary Cahill could be set to leave Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens in the New Year following the news that English Championship side Aston Villa are interested in a loan move for him.
Cahill, 32, has seen his first-team outings at the club reduced to the barest minimum since Maurizio Sarri took over as the Chelsea manager in the summer.
The 59-year-old Italian tactician replaced his compatriot Antonio Conte after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Blues.
Gary Cahill has been left frustrated with his lack of game time under Sarri.
While speaking on his playing status at Chelsea recently, the recently retired England international centre-back confirmed that he’s ready to leave Stamford Bridge in search of more playing time when the winter transfer window reopens in the next few weeks.
Cahill has been a wonderful servant for the Blues since he joined Chelsea from English Championship side Bolton Wanderers in January 2012.
He had earlier played for Midlands club Aston Villa before moving to fellow second-tier side Bolton.
The 61-cap ex-England international player has been strongly linked with a move back to Aston Villa on a short-term loan until the end of his Chelsea contract next summer.
