Exclusive! Why Emery was wrong for not starting Aubameyang and Lacazette

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has been proven wrong with his previous decision of not playing two strikers up front despite calls for him to do so.

For the first time, strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were paired to start a game and both were on the scoresheet in the five goals thriller against Cardiff.

Both players waited until they both started a game before getting their first goals of the season with Lacazette, setting up Aubameyang who brought the Gunners back into the game in the 62nd minute of the game.

Before now, the Arsenal manager has insisted on playing just a striker but this game has proved him to be wrong as Arsenal got their first away win of the season.

The Frenchman has always started from the bench but got the nod to lead the attack in Sunday’s game alongside the Gabon international.

The Arsenal duo has been reported to have established a close relationship both on and off the pitch with pictures of both flooding the social media during the pre-season.

The win now brings Arsenal in the balance with two wins in four games, building the confidence of the team in general.

It is still unclear if the Spanish manager will maintain the selection of having both players as he is yet to produce a particular team in two games.
