Olympique Marseille midfielder Abou Diaby has disclosed that if he was not hindered by his many injury problems at former club Arsenal he could have won the Ballon d’or at the North London outfit.
The 30-year old made the move to Arsenal from French side Auxerre in January 2006 and went on to score 19 goals in 140 appearances before he was released in June 2015 however his time at the club would be remembered for the numerous injuries he suffered while on the playing personnel at the North London side.
Speaking on how his footballing career has panned out in an interview with France Football, Diaby made a lot of revelations. In his words, the man, who has made 19 appearances for the French national team said: “I have no limits.”
“Once upon a time, people would ask me about the Ballon d’Or.
“I told them I dreamt about it. I have always had big ambitions, like to become one of the best in my position.
“I think I had the potential to achieve that.
“I am not saying it pretentiously but some people in life are ambitious, others aren’t.” he concluded.
The genesis of Abou Diaby when he suffered a serious injury as a result of the crude tackle from former Sunderland player Dan Smith in May 2006.
