EFL Cup is here again and clubs are preparing for their quarter-final fixtures. The Blues take on the Cherries on Wednesday as they hope to book their place in the Semi-final round of the competition.
Chelsea are not just in the competition, they are one of the favourites to win the trophy. So, there shouldn’t be any problem for them crunching Bournemouth to progress to the next round of the campaign.
Here are some reasons why the Blues should enjoy a free ride to victory over Howe Eddie’s men on Wednesday
Brilliant form
The Blues are in fine form since the start of the season. They’ve been involved in 26 matches in all competitions and they have won 18 and lost just 3 in the process.
Unlike Chelsea, Howe Eddie’s side have played 17 League games and have won eight, losing seven in the process.
They have blown hot and cold so far this season and they appeared to be short of confidence.
They didn’t look like a team capable of pulling a shock result against the Premier League’s title contenders.
The Stamford Bridge outfits currently sit at the fourth position in Premier League table, compared to Bournemouth whose recent underwhelming run of results have seen them dropped from the third position to 11th position.
Home support
Unfortunately for Bournemouth, the midweek clash is set to take place at Stamford Bridge, a place that’s fast becoming a fortress under Sarri.
Chelsea haven’t lost a single game at Stamford Bridge in all competitions this season and they are expected to continue the impressive stats against their struggling Premier League counterparts.
As it’s often said that ‘fans are the 12th player on the pitch’, it means Chelsea will be one-man better than the Cherries and they’ll be highly motivated to get through to the next round of the competition.
Superior head to head record
In the last 10 matches between both sides, the Blues enjoyed massive success over Eddie’s men.
The Blues won seven matches and were defeated in just three occasions. This is a proof that the Blues have no reason to fail Bournemouth’s test on Wednesday.
Sarri’s urge to break his trophy Hoodoo
Despite the name and personal achievements he’s made for himself, the Chelsea boss is still in search of first silverware in his managerial career.
The Italian is desperately seeking to end his trophy barrenness this season and EFL Cup is the best competition to do so.
Hence, he won’t joke with this rare opportunity and will charge his players to go all out against the Cherries so as to progress to the Semifinal.
