Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has revealed Chelsea have an option to recall Nathan Ake in January.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a bright stay with the Cherries, scoring three goals so far this season despite being a defender and Howe has confessed he wants him to stay for the rest of the season but fears the Blues may recall due to his performances so far.
Speaking after their 3-1 loss to Southampton, the Cherries boss confirmed: ‘I thought Nathan Ake was excellent again, there is a release clause there where Chelsea can recall him.
‘But we would hope the fact he’s playing and playing well would mean he’d stay. But we’ll wait and see.
‘If you take away his goal he defended really well, he used the ball well and he got into some good positions, it’s a positive from today.’
The current Chelsea defensive set-up has been impressive so far this season, conceding few goals and keeping clean sheets for most parts.
Conte could recall Ake as he is expected to bring into some defensive reinforcement in the January transfer window, as he has not shown too much of faith in the Blues skipper, John Terry who could be set for an imminent departure from the Stamford Bridge.
However, It is understood that the former Juventus boss will prioritize a midfield signing with preference for a box-to-box midfielder.
There are reports Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic is set to give Conte a large transfer chest to bring in quality signing in the winter window after his bright start to life in the Premier League.
