Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is reported to have joined other English Premier League chiefs at the 22nd ECA General Assembly in Amsterdam.
Ed Woodward joins Juventus boss Andrea Agnelli, AC Milan’s Ivan Gazidis an Ajax chief Edwin van der Sar as they hope to implement a change in the face of European football.
Other English Premier League sides present at the meeting are Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Leicester City, Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur.
The major point of discussion is to ponder on how the Champions League can be made better, starting from 2024 with a bid to promoting and relegating clubs.
Other things that are expected to be discussed is the playing of Champions League football at the weekend and also ensuring a calendar that will help players rest more so as to be fresh for games.
However, all of these deliberations are expected to be agreed upon before the target of 2024 but there are lots of disagreements between the various countries.
Meanwhile, the English Premier League sides are not as vocal as they are expected to be with their various clubs struggling to secure a qualification o next year’s editions of the UEFA Champions League. Only Liverpool and Man City can boast of playing next season at the moment.
