Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has leapt to the defence of his manager following the season-ending hamstring injury that he sustained during the 3-0 win over Watford at the weekend.
Kante spoke about the injury for the first time and the French World Cup winner told reporters, via an interview monitored by Goal, that his manager was blameless on the injury he sustained against the Hornets.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri had earlier blamed himself on the 10th-minute injury sustained by one of his ever-present players this season.
According to the Italian tactician, he should have left Kante out of the Watford game.
The French midfielder will definitely miss the second leg of the Blues’ Europa League clash with German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night as well as the final league game of the season at Leicester City on Sunday.
Kante will be a big doubt for the Europa League final in Baku, Azerbaijan if Chelsea qualify ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt.
He was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek during the Watford game and the Chelsea Academy player went on to break the deadlock for his team at the start of the second half before David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuain added further goals to give the Blues a comprehensive 3-0 win over the Hornets thereby sealing their spot in next season’s Champions League.
