Premier League giants Manchester United have signed Lee Grant on a two-year deal.
Grant joins United
The 35-year-old reportedly penned a two-year contract with Jose Mourinho’s team after Stoke City allowed him to leave the bet365 Stadium for free.
The goalkeeper has been brought in as a back-up, should there be injury setbacks, to Manchester United’s first choice goalkeeper David de Gea, or deputy Sergio Romero.
The goalie was Stoke’s 2016/17 best Player of the season after covering for the England international goalkeeper Jack Butland but has not played much since the World Cup star returned.
Decent backup
Grant put in a spirited display against Mourinho’s men in October 2016 as the Potter’s earned their first Old Trafford point since 1980.
He played 30 matches in that campaign but featured just three times last season.
Portugal U-21 safe hand Joel Pereira was a back-up to Spain international goalkeeper David De Gea and Argentine Romero last term but the Portuguese is expected to be loaned out to gain more first-team experience.
England U-21 star Dean Henderson, who recently penned a new deal, has already joined Sheffield United for the entirety of the coming season.
The new Manchester United goalkeeper is third new signing at Old Trafford this summer transfer window, following transfer deals for Brazil midfielder Fren from Shakhtar Donetsk and defender Diogo Dalot from FC Porto.
