According to media reports, Premier League giants Arsenal have completed the signing of Lucas Torreira from Serie A side Sampdoria.
Arsenal keen on Serie A star
The North Londoners have been heavily linked with a summer move for the 22-year-old midfielder, and it was alleged earlier in the week that the Gunners had seen a bid worth about £26m accepted by the Serie A side.
And now, as per Di Marzio football reporter Fabrizio Romano, the transfer deal taking him to the Emirates Stadium is ‘done’.
It had earlier been claimed that discussions would be put on hold until after the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup that starts on Thursday, with the Uruguay international midfielder representing his national team, but it looks like the transfer deal has been seriously rushed through to sign the midfield sensation before the South American team get their World Cup campaign underway against African side Egypt later Friday.
Arsenal seek defensive reinforcement
Nothing has been said about the length of the deal he will sign at the North London club.
The Gunners have already confirmed the capturing of Stephan Lichtsteiner, the defender, from Serie A champions Juventus on a free move, while transfer deals should be sealed for defender Sokratis from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen sage hand Bernd Leno in the coming days.
