Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp rebuked star attacker Mohamed Salah for diving on a day when the Reds failed to secure their spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Crucial Giroud winner
A 1-0 loss at Stamford Bridge, to Olivier Giroud’s header in the first half, means Liverpool must win against bottom side Brighton next Sunday to guarantee their spot in the English Premier League top four.
Mohammed Salah was yellow carded a few minutes after the former Arsenal forward had put the blues in front for falling on the edge of Chelsea’s penalty area as he attempted dribble pass defender Gary Cahill.
Jurgen Klopp said he is not sure, but he thinks it was a dive. The manager confirmed that’s not what he wants to see in matches.
Prolific forward chase Premier League record
The club’s 43-goal attacker is still chasing the 38-match, single campaign English Premier League record of 32 goals in total – he has 31 goals at the moment– and had a disappointing afternoon against his old club.
The former Dortmund boss insisted his team performed pretty well and the midweek match in Rome which sealed a spot in the May 26 Champions League final with Euro giants Real Madrid had no impact on the performance.
