Chelsea fullback Baba Rahman could link up with German Bundesliga side Schalke this January transfer window after the German team confirmed they are in negotiations with the Ghanian defender.
The 21-year-old joined the Premier League Champions back in 2015 and played 23 matches in his first campaign, which was made tough by the sacking of Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho just four months after he moved to Stamford Bridge.
The Ghana international left-back then spent a year on loan with Schalke back in the 2016/17 season and the Blues have signed fullbacks like Davide Zappacosta and Marcos Alonso since he last features for the West London side.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is also interested in Juventus left-back Alex Sandro and Schalke 04 have said they’re interested in signing Baba Rahman this New Year.
The former Juventus head Coach Conte confirmed in December that the African was still recuperating from a long-term knee problem and, though the defender was not in the manager’s plans, the fullback was free to use the team’s facilities to return to full fitness.
The Blues brought in Baba Rahman for about £20million back in 2015 and will try to recoup as much of that transfer fee as possible should the Ghanian move to the German side.
