According to media reports emanating from France, Champions League finalists Liverpool have agreed a £63million move with French side Lyon to land Nabil Fekir in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool agree on Fekir deal
French media publication RMC, as cited by the Metro, is claiming that Liverpool have struck a transfer deal with the French Ligue 1 club.
The same story states that the Reds see the Lyon Captain as an indirect replacement for Brazil star Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazil international attacking midfielder moved to Barcelona in a £142million deal in the winter transfer window after months of speculation.
The Merseysider’s haven’t struggled without Coutinho following their brilliant run to the UEFA Champions League final thanks to the goal-scoring prowess of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, and Roberto Firmino.
Liverpool lead race
As per the same article, former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has played a major role in the deal considering his role as an advisor to Jean-Michel Aulas, Lyon president.
Indeed, RMC are suggesting that Houllier travelled to Liverpool a few weeks ago to help the Reds and Lyon seal a move for the 24-year-old.
Fekir has netted 17 goals and has created seven assists in 28 matches for the Ligue 1 club in the current season.
The Reds will take on Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final later this month in Kiev.
