Conte to address Chelsea issue this month or risk missing Champions League

According to Charlie Nicholas, Chelsea have to address their lack of goals problem to stop London rivals Tottenham Hotspur making fourth place in the English Premier League table.

The reigning League champions sit in the fourth spot on the log but level on points with Merseyside club Liverpool after last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Leicester at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have drawn their last four matches in all competitions and the Blues have failed to find the net in their last three matches after successive draws with Norwich, Arsenal and former Champions Leicester City.

Spain international striker Alvaro Morata has lost his scoring boots in recent weeks and the £58m summer signing produced a wasteful outing in a 2-2 draw with North London side Arsenal in the English topflight earlier in the month.

The Blues have been strongly linked with a possible transfer of West Ham forward Andy Carroll despite the striker’s poor match fitness record.

Nicholas feels the Blues need to score more goals or else Spurs will seal top-four place ahead of the Chelsea.

The West Londoner’s have won the English Premier League title twice in the past three campaigns.

Conte’s team will take on Spanish La Liga heavyweights FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League last 16.
