West London premier league side, Chelsea are ready to welcome a new player into their fold following reports that a deal for Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes is almost complete.
This news was broken by popular journalist Nicolo Schira of the Gazzette dello Sport newspaper in Italy, where he revealed that the Blues have agreed on weekly wages of around £77,000 for the Argentine international.
He further stressed that Chelsea are waiting on a response from Russian side Zenit on a £27m bid for Paredes.
The Argentine midfielder is one of several midfield players linked with a move to Chelsea in the current transfer window.
West Ham United utility midfielder and Cagliari Calcio star Nicolo Barella have also been touted as possible midfield reinforcements for the Blues this month.
Leandro Paredes is also in the process of completing his move to confirm to Chelsea when he retweeted a ‘Welcome to Chelsea’ post on Twitter.
His action was enough to send the Chelsea fans into delirium.
Paredes could be a like-for-like replacement for Cesc Fabregas who left for French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco last week.
Experienced Spanish midfielder Fabregas has since made his debut for the former Champions League finalists in a 1-1 draw with hosts Marseille in what was a league game played on Sunday night.
