According to reports, Liverpool have seen a £57million bid for RB Leipzig star Naby Keita rejected, as the Liverpool boss seemingly steps up his chase for the midfielder.
Keita was one of the most outstanding youngsters in the German Bundesliga last season and has also been linked with big clubs including Manchester City this summer.
The Reds are keen to reinforce in central midfield, and the boss sees Keita as ideal for the kind of football he desires his team to be playing, though he surely won’t come cheap.
Sport Bild reported that the Reds have seen their previous bid of £57m rejected by Bundesliga club Leipzig, in what would have been a club-record transfer for Liverpool.
The Merseyside giant already broke their transfer record with a £37m transfer of Egyptian Mohamed Salah this summer, but it could take almost double to persuade Leipzig into selling.
Leipzig themselves have since revealed they have no need to sell their stars, with the CEO Oliver Mintzlaff describing his team as ‘immune’ to any bids.
The Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp himself talked transfers earlier today, insisting he was not panicking over his relative lack of transfer activity so far this summer transfer window.
