Arsenal striker Oliver Giroud has denied signing a new deal with his North London club when his current deal is expected to expire in the summer of 2018.
The 30-year old was speaking after he netted the only goal as Arsenal labored to a 1-0 win over midlands club West Brom at the Emirates Stadium to stay closing gap to overtake league leaders Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
In his words, Giroud said: “People have been saying I have signed a new contract.”
“It is not true but may be soon.” he concluded.
Frenchman Giroud made his move to Arsenal in the summer of 2012 from former club Montpellier after he helped them to a surprising French Ligue 1 title as he emerged the league’s topscorer.
Giroud has 88 goals for the Gunners in just over 200 appearances. He has however been a bit-part player this season with Chilean forward mostly preferred upfront but that has still not stopped him from weighing in with six goals in all competitions.
With Arsenal occupying the 4th position. Giroud would be hoping he is offered a new contract with the club so that he could fulfill his ambitions of winning the English Premier League (EPL) with his North London club.
