As per BBC, an offer from Premier League Champions Chelsea has been submitted to Merseyside club Everton for midfielder Ross Barkley.
However, this bid falls short of Everton’s asking price and was immediately rejected.
The same outfit, however, confirmed that the England international midfielder could still leave the Merseyside club before the summer transfer window slam shut on Thursday.
Clearly, the Everton star wants to leave the Blues, Everton manager Ronald Koeman does not seem very convinced by Barkley either – not that Koeman was now ruling out his possible involvement once fully fit.
Everton’s £50m valuation is not going to be met, but the question is that is £25million too small?
The report claim Conte’s side are ‘expected to come back for further talks’ and this interest could see Tottenham Hotspur, who is a long-term admirer, return to the negotiation table in a bid to sign Barkley.
The 23-year-old, who is a boyhood fan of the club, has already stated his intentions to go and the Merseyside club have moved on, finding replacements for the attacking midfielder who has not reached his potential.
It is widely believed that money isn’t really a problem for Everton but if a fee of about £30m can be agreed, considering the fact that he would go on a free next summer, and could also be out of the team for about three months due to his injury, this is a good deal that probably should be sanctioned by Everton Chiefs.
