Premier League Champions Chelsea have been given a major boost in their chase of Torino striker Andrea Belotti with the Italian postponing talks on a contract extension.
It’s been reported by a renowned Italian sports publication CalcioMercato the Italian star is stalling any talks regarding an extension. According to reports, Chelsea and Serie A giants AC Milan are big admirers of the forward with both teams set to be closely monitoring the player’s contract situation that includes a €100m release clause.
While the striker may be a relatively less famous player to supporters of English Premier League, in Italy the striker has established himself as one of Serie A’s most clinical strikers.
The Italian was the hero for his club last campaign scoring 24 goals in the Italian Serie A alone. Torino struggled at the back and only relied only on Belotti’s goal rate to prevent the side from going down.
While Spain international striker Alvaro Morata is doing so well at Stamford Bridge since joining from La Liga side Real Madrid, it is crystal clear that Belgian Michy Batshuayi is not doing well deputizing up front, with the striker finding it hard to seal consistent playing-time under Italian tactician Antonio Conte. Belotti might be the player to push Alvaro Morata for a place in the Blues squad and given the latest uncertainty surrounding his playing future, the striker is sure to be connected to Chelsea as their new second forward for quite some time.
