Chelsea have had their issues up front recently, now reports suggest Leicester City forward Islam Slimani have been identified as a possible solution.
Antonio Conte’s team did return to winning ways on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Brighton, but before that, they’d only managed a goal in their last four encounters across all competitions.
Interestingly, the team returned to form when Alvaro Morata was ruled out of action through suspension, with the Spain international going six matches in all competitions without a single goal as the pressure pile up on him.
With Belgium international striker Michy Batshuayi unable to cement regular playing time as evidenced by the lack of game time he’s made this campaign and last term, that could lead the Blues to consider alternatives outside of the team, with The Times suggesting that they have made an approach to sign Leicester star Slimani on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
It follows rumour linking the Premier League Champions with moves for England international duo of Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch, as cited in the report, but considering their goal tallies and figures recently, it’s quite the underwhelming wishlist of targets to offer more firepower in attack at Stamford Bridge.
Slimani has scored 12 goals in 43 matches for Leicester after his transfer from Sporting Lisbon back in 2016.
