During the past January transfer window, one of the players heavily linked with joining Chelsea is Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente.
However, the player chose to remain with Swansea to help them fight relegation, and he eventually revealed that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte personally called him personally to make a switch to Stamford Bridge.
In a new development, however, there are reports that Chelsea are back in the race to sign him this summer.
According to The Times, the premier league champions have reignited their interest this summer and still consider the 32-year-old as a good back-up option.
Llorente worked with Conte while both were still at Juventus, and both had been familiar with one another. The player has just one year left on his deal with the Swans – which means he is very likely to come at a cheap price.
The forward made a fabulous impact during his first campaign in the English top flight, scoring 15 goals in 33 Premier League appearances at Swansea.
Llorente broke his arm while on holiday and is expected to miss the start of preseason. However, he is expected to be back for Swansea’s opening fixture against Southampton.
Conte is keen on adding to his attacking options at Chelsea after asking Diego Costa to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and has been dealt a blow as reports claim Man United are trying to hijack his deal for Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.
