Champions League: Ex-Liverpool Attacker On Target In Man City Rout

Former Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling continued his recent goalscoring form with a goal in the big win over German Bundesliga club Schalke 04 in the second leg of their last 16 tie in the Champions League.

Manchester City seriously thrashed Schalke-04 7-0 at the Etihad Stadium to seal their place in the last eight.

The Citizens had won their first leg meeting in Germany 3-2 courtesy two late goals from Leroy Sane and the aforementioned Sterling.

Manchester City waited for over half an hour before finding the back of the net against their German opposition.

Sergio Aguero scored from the spot in the 35th minute after Bernardo Silva was brought down in the box.

The Argentine international added a second goal before Sane found the back of the net against his former club to give Manchester City a 3-0 lead at the halftime interval.

Raheem Sterling added a fourth goal at the start of the second half to add to his treble against Watford in the Premier League at the weekend.

Bernardo Silva scored the fifth goal before the substitute duo of Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus found the back of the net to give Manchester City a 7-0 win at home.

Schalke 04 set a new record for the heaviest defeat suffered by Germans.

They were beaten 7-0 for a 10-2 aggregate loss.
