Tottenham Son Heung-min strike was enough to boost Spurs chances of qualifying from Champions League Group E as they beat CSKA Moscow. Spurs dominated possession in the newly-built CSKA Arena but struggled to break down their resilient opponents until Son struck late on to seal an invaluable three points. The victory lifts Mauricio Pochettino’s men up to second in Group E and only a point behind leaders Monaco, who drew 1-1 at home to Bayer Leverkusen. Much of the talk in the build-up to this contest surrounded Harry Kane’s return from injury but Son has now scored three goals in the two matches since Kane was carried off on a stretcher and this was arguably his most important. Ragnar Klavan grabbed Liverpool's opener, the defender capitalising on a defensive error by Derby's Richard Keogh to find the net in the 24th minute. Liverpool then hit their hosts with a quick-fire double at the start of the second half to put the contest to bed, Coutinho slotting home a one-on-one opportunity before setting up Divock Origi to do likewise from a tight angle. Having brushed aside Burton … [Read more...]

Yaya Toure will not be eligible to play in Manchester City's Champions League group games after being left out of Pep Guardiola's squad. The City boss was forced to drop an overseas players from his squad as UEFA rules permit only 17 players who are not "locally-trained" or "association-trained". The 33-year-old's only appearance came in the second leg of the Champions League playoff against Steaua Bucharest with City leading 5-0 from the first leg.
