Arsenal

Can Aubameyang propel the Gunners to an unlikely glory ?

22 years, three Premier League glory, that sums up how Arsenal fared under Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman spent more than two decades at the Emirates Stadium but couldn’t achieve much in terms of Premier League trophies.

Irrespective of his lack of many trophies, the 69-year-old boss still remains Arsenal’s most successful manager in history. This is as a result of the philosophy and players he’s been able to develop throughout his stay at North London.

One obvious trend attached to Wenger’s regime as the Gunners boss was the fact that he only signs a handful of players during transfer markets.

He is known for his ability to develop youngsters into world stars cash-in on them at a very steep price.

Some months to his departure, Wenger surprisingly spent much cash on players during transfer windows.

Petr Cech, Mohammed Elneny, Granit Xhaka, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Perez were all purchased by the Frenchman.

Unfortunately, he was unable to get the best from all of these players before he ended his long-term partnership with the Emirates outfits.

Aubameyang’s instant effect on the team

In his first season as an Arsenal player, the £180,000 weekly earner didn’t live up to fans expectations, though, he was able to find the back of the net in 10 occasions.

Unai Emery took charge of the Gunners in July with so many responsibilities on his shoulder and one of them is to win the Premier League trophy.

After losing his first two games of the season to City and Chelsea respectively, many impatient fans began to criticise Sporting director Sven Mislintant for hiring the former PSG manager.

Since the two defeats, the whole team – including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – have been in great form and are presently looking like real title contenders.

They are fourth on the log, thanks to good and numerous goals scored by the Gabonese star and other strikers in the team.

The Gabonese will play a huge role in the Gunners’ mission to contest for the Premier League glory as the team will solely rely on his goals for inspiration.

The former Borussia Dortmund’s striker might even lead the Gunners to their first Premier League trophy since the 2004-05 season, should he continue with his red-hot goalscoring form.

He has scored 10 goals from 14 appearances, making him the League’s highest goalscorer so far this season.

Apart from his scoring abilities, the star player has developed a great relationship and understanding with Alexandre Lacazette as both players often play for themselves.

Irrespective of City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham’s display as the season progresses, Arsenal could achieve the unthinkable by becoming the next Premier League Champions as long as the Gabonese remain in his perfect and good goalscoring form.
