“He is brilliant” Man U star praises Manager

Manchester United has had a difficult start to the season under Mourinho that has seen United lie sixth in the premier league, nine points below leaders Chelsea.

The Red boss has been shuffling his back line in bid of finding a partnership that is better suited to serve him as he tries to mold the club into a side capable of competing for titles.

Luke Shaw, a player Mourinho had tried signing while at Chelsea but who had eventually signed for the Reds was criticized by Mourinho earlier this season about his position.

And Phil Jones says Mourinho’s approach is ok by him. He said: “He’s honest. That’s all you can ask as a player, for a manager to be honest.

“He’s the manager, the players need to know when they’ve done right and when they’ve done wrong and he does that.

“Since the manager’s come in he’s done brilliant.

“The players are enjoying playing football and winning games and that’s what we need to do win more games.”

Phil Jones is back into United’s first XI and has started three games in a row including the game against Feyenoord in which Wayne Rooney scored, taking his Europe goal tally to 39.

As it stands, Rooney is a goal behind Sir Bobby Charlton in all competitions with the later at 259 goals and Jones has shown his teammate support.

Speaking about Rooney he said: “I’m buzzing for him. He’s a world-class player, has been for many years, a legend at the club. I’m just delighted for him, he’s a great lad off the pitch as well.

“I hope he breaks the club record now – I hope he scores in the first minute on Sunday.

“He’s got all the talent in the world so let’s hope he keeps scoring the goals.

“It’s been difficult for him but it’s water off a duck’s back for him.

“He’s dealt with that throughout his career. He’s shown tonight that it doesn’t bother him. He put in a good performance and got his goal.

“He’s not said anything in the dressing room.

“There’s been a bit of banter in the dressing room but nothing that players wouldn’t normally say or do. He takes it with a pinch of salt.”
