Manchester United are reportedly struggling to tie Belgium international midfielder Marouane Fellaini down at Old Trafford after the Belgian turned down the club’s initial contract offer.
The 29-year-old is out of United deal at the end of the current League season and the Red Devils have already activated a 12-month extension in his deal.
Fellaini’s flourished at the Manchester club since Jose Mourinho’s appointment and the Portuguese tactician is keen on keeping the Belgian at Old Trafford.
The former Everton star is happy at the club but he’s minded that this might be his last big deal in football and he has bids on the table from the Turkish Super League.
Fellaini’s agents in negotiating with Manchester United officials but they’re thought to have rejected the club’s initial offer, according to the Telegraph.
United are sure that they will eventually make a breakthrough in the negotiation but they are likely to have to speed up talks given the midfielder is free to pen pre-contract agreements with foreign suitors in January.
The Red Devils are also working round the clock on a new contract for Ander Herrera but they have a year contract extension on the table for him.
United face Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon and the Spaniard is expected to start in the absence of the Belgian, who remains out of action with a knee injury.
