Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea have completed the signing of France midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from reigning Ligue one champions Monaco in a reported fee of £40m.
The 22-year-old France international midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the reigning Premier League champions.
The midfielder becomes the Stamford Bridge club’s second main summer signing after they had signed defender Antonio Rudiger from Serie A side Roma.
The big midfielder joined AS Monaco from French Ligue 1 rivals Rennes back in 2014 and made his France National team debut in a friendly loss to Spain in March this year.
Bakayoko was part of the Monaco team that made it to the Champions League semi-finals last season, crashing out of the prestigious competition to Serie A Champions Juventus.
The defender has been handed the number 14 jersey at the West London club. Bakayoko in his first statement said: “I am very happy to be here (at Chelsea) and to join this great team.
“I have grown up watching Chelsea. Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood.
“I (Bakayoko) am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach [Antonio Conte] and alongside so many great team-mates (at Chelsea).”
