According to reports, Premier League duo of Arsenal and Chelsea are discussing the prospect of a player exchange deal involving Arsenal attacker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic.
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Matic have both been linked with exits this summer, with the Arsenal attacker having just a season left on his Arsenal contract.
Meanwhile, the Chelsea midfielder is expected to drop down the pecking order once Tiemoue Bakayoko finally arrives Chelsea, and so Matcic may well be looking to leave the West London club this summer.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claim despite the two players in question being heavily linked with moves away, it claimed that the Gunners could be ready to swap English man Oxlade-Chamberlain in exchange for Matic.
The transfer, if sanctioned, would attract a lot of criticism because Oxlade is younger, he has just enjoyed the best playing season of his career to date and offers great versatility having played in different positions last campaign.
The attacker, however, is yet to reach his full potential, while signing the Chelsea midfielder would give the Gunners that commanding and powerful presence in central midfield that they’ve been missing for years.
The inclusion of Matic in a team that has just signed Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette, Wenger would certainly be winning the supporters over.
However, we wait to see whether or not Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will buy the idea.
