Borussia Dortmund Vs Borussia Monchengladbach Match Preview

Borussia Dortmund are through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. Even better, the German outfit are yards apart from bitter rivals Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians struck a stone this term, stumbling and fumbling this season, losing three matches and drawing another three, leaving them in third place on the Bundesliga log.

Dortmund lead the pack on the Bundesliga log, nine points adrift local rival Borussia Monchengladbach, who are levelled on points at second place with Munich.

Dortmund are looking to clinch the Bundesliga title since pulling a stunt in 2012, pipping Bayern Munich, who have racked more successes under their belt than Dortmund.

They could head into Christmas if they can weave their way past Monchengladbach when the two meet on Friday at Signal Iduna Park.

Monchengladbach last massive win over Dortmund was in 1978 when they routed BVB 12-0. The battle at Signal Iduna Park could be a major decider for Dortmund this season who have throttled far ahead of their greatest rival Bayern Munich this term.

Prior to their derby clash on Friday, Dortmund will be looking to extend their number of wins against their closest rival.

Gladbach will look to chop the chunk of gap that keeps them gulfs apart from Dortmund when they visit Iduna Park on Friday.

They will be looking to threaten BVB’s position at the top of the log. Gladbach’s side are hopeful they can steal three points at Iduna Park and will look to brush past their former clashes with BVB where they had always thrown away their leads. A quick look at Dormund vs Monchengladbach bundesliga football betting reveal there would be no underdog in this clash.

Gladbach suffered their first Bundesliga defeat at the hands of BVB in the 1965-66 season. That clash produced a whopping nine goals, with Dortmund scraping past them 5-4.

The last 35 meetings between these sides have produced plenty of goals, though Dortmund have emerged the better side.

Dortmund want to keep their lead at the top. BVB have managed to lay a heavy bout on  Monchengladbach 21 times, turning the tables in their favour. Save every other clubs, BVB have come from 1-nil down–eight times, their biggest overturn against any European club–in their previous 35 meetings.

Dortmund’s strength at home is at its zenith and a journey to Dortmund will be a tough test for Gladbach who have only managed to pick a meagre four points and scored eight goals in their last 13 visits to Dortmund.

Christian Pulisic will be looking to raise his stock when he faces Gladbach on Friday. Still on the Chelsea’s radar, according to the Daily Star, the player has been touted to leave next summer for the Bridge.
