The top two Champions League favourites, Barcelona and Liverpool, meet for what promises to be a mouthwatering two-legged semifinal tie starting from the first leg at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night.
Both teams will meet again for the second leg at Anfield next week to determine who will secure a spot in the Champions League final billed for the city of Madrid in June.
For the first leg, hosts Barcelona will start as favourites against a Liverpool side that has won its last ten games in all competitions including the last two away games in the knockout stage of the Champions League and a repeat of that outcome vs Barcelona is at the odds of 4.33 according to Bet365.
Liverpool defeated German champions Bayern Munich 3-1 away from home in the first knockout (round of 16) stage of this year’s competition before pulling off a 4-1 away win over Portuguese champions FC Porto in the second knockout stage (quarterfinals).
Liverpool had previously lost all their away games in the group stage including a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Red Star Belgrade.
On the other hand, Barcelona have won all their home games in this season’s Champions League except the last group stage game against English opposition Tottenham Hotspur which ended in a 1-1 draw though it must be pointed out that knockout stage qualification was already secured.
A home win for Barcelona is at the odds of 1.85 according to Bet365 while the possibility of a draw is at the odds of 3.90.
