Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has reacted to his surprise return to the first team squad on his social media accounts.
Since Jose Mourinho was made coach of Manchester United in the summer, the German midfielder has not played a minute for the team this season.
Mourinho stated at the beginning of the season that the world cup winner will not have a role to play in his plans and Bastain Schweinsteiger was forced to train on his own after he had also being banned from training with the reserves and at a point trained with the under 23’s.
Earlier this week the situation changed when surprisingly Schweinsteiger was spotted training with the first team. The world cup winner has gone on to thank fans for their support on his social media accounts.
His reaction showed how happy he is to be reunited with Wayne Rooney on the training ground.
The 32 year old former German captain joined United from Bayern Munich last year and was a regular member of the first team squad when Louis Van Gaal was the manager. In his first season at the club, injuries restricted his involvement in the team as he was only able to feature in 13 premier league matches.
Before the unexpected turn of events, there were reports that Schweinsteiger could move to Italy to join AC Milan. It is believed that the Italian club is willing to bring the German midfielder to the club during the January transfer window as they feel he still has a lot to offer.
