Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona must pay a world record transfer fee for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah if they want to firm up their interest in him with a bid.
According to the Daily Express, Salah is presently rated at £150m but Barcelona will have to pay a fine of £100m due to the restriction on the signing of Liverpool players.
The said fine would take the transfer fee to £250m.
In a publication from AS made known by Spanish radio Cadena Ser, it was revealed that Barcelona can’t sign Liverpool players for three years until the end of the 2020/21 season.
This was part of the agreement reached between Barcelona and Liverpool before the latter sanctioned the sale of Brazilian international playmaker Philippe Coutinho during the penultimate transfer window in January.
Coutinho became the third most expensive transfer in world football when he swapped Liverpool for Barcelona in a deal worth around £142m.
It’s highly unlikely that Salah will team up with him at the Nou Camp because of the huge transfer outlay involved.
Egyptian star Mohamed Salah had a phenomenal debut season for Liverpool in the last campaign as he scored 44 goals in all competitions thereby attracting the interests of both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
