Manchester United 30-year-old winger Ashley Young has hailed Jose Mourinho ability to have successfully created a rivalry between Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford which have seen both players perform at their very best this season.
Rashford has featured more than Anthony Martial, making just six starts in total, but has claimed five goals and two assists, including scoring in the Champions League.
Martial and Rashford have both scored five goals for United and Young says their fight for a starting place spurs in every position of United’s squad.
According to a source, Young noted that both players will compete with the incentive to get a spot in the starting XI.
Ashley Young said, “It is a very competitive game and everybody wants to play with the mentality to win games. Everyone is fighting with strength and pace to get in that starting XI.”
In the past few games this season, there have been a very few automatic starting XI in United squad, with each player working very hard with the right mentality to win games before they can earn their place in the starting lineup.
Young has just a year on his contract and has confirmed he will be happy to extend his contract with Man United, so far he his a regular starter and has performed very well.
