Arsene Wenger: Ozil is another Bergkamp

Mesut Ozil the next Bergkamp, said Wenger after another influential display by the player in a 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

The German international Ozil assisted in one goal and scored another on Monday to help Arsenal top the league table.

He has made 16 assists and scored 5 goals in the Premier League this season alone, closing in on Arsenal legend Thierry Henry who has set the all time record of  20 assists.

Against Bournemouth, Ozil created 9 goal scoring opportunities making it the highest figured registered in Premier League this season.

On Arsene Wenger

When asked if Ozil is the best player in the Premier League, he said:

Look at the number of assists and they speak for him.

Wenger also acknowledged comparison with forward Bergkamp, who was a sharp shooter in Wenger’s early days.

Ozil has been fantastic to watch, but what has impressed most this season is the level of consistency  – and Wenger believes he still has more to offer at age 27.
