Arsenal have decided against signing Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida this summer.
The Croatian defender has been heavily linked with an Emirates move in the later days of the transfer window, with claims that the North London outfit were weighing a £27 million offer for the player.
Unai Emery now told the club that he is happy with the set of players in the squad and will not be needing Vida in the Arsenal set-up, ending their transfer business for the summer.
The Gunners did well to sign five players during the transfer window, but there were concerns over the side’s defence line, with reports that Emery is not confident in the abilities of Shkodran Mustafi while Laurent Koscielny recovers from a long injury spell.
Vida, who impressed during the World Cup in Russia is said to be looking for a new club in the Premier League and will be thrilled at the chance to join Arsenal before the end of transfer business.
However, Arsenal are expected to offload for players before the end of the window, with the likes of Danny Welbeck and David Ospina being touted to leave the club, following reports that they will not be included in Emery’s plans at the club.
