Arsenal have reportedly been banned from signing Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino due to the clause in his contract with the Reds.
This revelation was made in a report from the popular English news portal Daily Express.
It was revealed that the clause was inserted when Firmino joined the club.
Brazilian international star Roberto Firmino signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2015 after the Merseyside giants negotiated a £29m transfer fee with German Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim.
A £82.6m release clause was then inserted into his contract by the Reds sporting director Michael Edwards for clubs except for Arsenal.
This was due to the 2013 summer transfer saga involving Liverpool, Arsenal and Luis Suarez.
The Gunners invoked the £40,000,001 release clause in the Uruguayan international player’s contract only for Liverpool turn the move down.
Luis Suarez eventually left Liverpool for Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona in a £75m deal in 2014.
Roberto Firmino has been a wonderful servant for the Reds since his transfer from TSG Hoffenheim in 2015.
The 27-year-old has formed a lethal front trio with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at the club.
The three players played a big role in the Reds’ run to the Champions League final last season which ended in a 3-1 at the hands of Real Madrid.
